Spicy Saffron Gin & Tonic
Compound liquors are a fun and easy way to experiment with flavors. We like the combination of lemon and saffron to complement the juniper and other botanicals in the gin, while adding some dried chiles and a few Szechuan peppercorns introduces a subtle numbing effect as you sip.
FOR THE COMPOUND GIN
- 1 cup juniper-forward gin
- ¼ teaspoon fennel seeds
- ½ teaspoon lemon zest
- 1 pinch saffron
- ¼ teaspoon Szechuan peppercorn
- 1 or 2 arbol chiles
FOR THE GIN AND TONIC
- 1 part infused gin
- 3 parts tonic water
- lemon wheel, to garnish
